Newly built Scottsdale estate features car collector's dream space

A newly built mansion with an 18-car luxury show garage has hit the real estate market for $6.95 million.

Designed by award-winning architect C.P. Drewett and built by Steve Stanford, owner of DRRL Construction, the 7,147-square-foot home is on three acres within Estancia master-planned community in north Scottsdale.

Chris Karas, founder of The Karas Group at Compass Arizona and listing agent for the property, said the home is near the Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. car auction event at WestWorld in north Scottsdale.

Luxury car collectors usually store their vehicles in warehouses, airplane hangars or storage units, Karas said.

“When you spend all this money, why wouldn’t you want to see these on an everyday basis?” Karas said.

Spanning 1,322 square feet, the flex space also could be used as an art studio, billiard room, entertaining space or even an additional guest house if a buyer isn’t a car collector, Karas said.

The finished flex space features the same finishes — tile, cabinetry and lighting — as the inside of the home, he said.

The property already include a detached guest house with one bedroom and sitting area.

“When C.P. Drewett designed it, he designed it for somebody who entertains,” Karas said. “One of his passions is cooking. He designed the kitchen so you can cook, entertain and be engaged in conversation with family and friends.”

The modern kitchen includes Wolf appliances, including convection steam oven, speed oven, induction and gas cooktops, as well as a built-in coffee system and concealed pantry with its own wall oven, ice machine and appliance garage.

Pocketing doors slide open to create an indoor-outdoor living experience, where the spaces meld into one another.

The covered patio boasts a built-in barbecue.

“They designed it as if they were designing it for themselves,” Karas said.

Built behind the gates of Estancia near the 18th hole of the Tom Fazio-designed golf course, the home features a long, winding driveway.

“When you arrive at the home, it’s a place where you can relax and have a serene feeling of desert in a centrally located area of north Scottsdale,” Karas said.

Warm wood tones are mixed with natural stone to bring the desert feeling into the house, he said.

With a nod toward midcentury modernism — characterized by its boxy architecture, straight lines and minimalist nature — the residence includes hemlock, bronze and textured limestone inside and outside of the home, he said.
